Wendy's
As a supervisor, I oversee all the circulation operations, including managing 16 groups of three student workers and assisting visiting patrons. One of my main responsibilities is to ensure that the library materials are collected and distributed efficiently. This involves tasks such as shelving and pulling books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials. Additionally, I assist patrons in navigating the library database, conducting research, and reference requests. When necessary, I also handle over-the-phone troubleshooting and customer conflict resolution.
I've helped plan and execute 3 conferences with U.S. and State elected officials, including a week-long Alternative Spring Break to Washington D.C. and Columbus, OH. One of my core responsibilities is to manage four social media platforms by posting and curating promotional material weekly for the Office and the University. I've been working to advance the visibility and support of higher education on behalf of the Miami Office of the President by establishing connections and bridging the gaps between the community, business, and government.
As a crew member, I was responsible for taking customer orders, preparing food, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This experience taught me to navigate a fast-paced environment to work under pressure and complete tasks quickly and efficiently. Additionally, I learned to hone my time management and multitasking skills.
May 2022 - August 2023
Ohio State University Extension
Student Assistant
I am responsible for managing all aspects of digital marketing and design for three program areas using software such as Canva, Publisher, and Adobe Photoshop. Additionally, I developed and executed educational events such as 4-H camp, 4-H project judging, county fair events, agricultural programming, and family & consumer science community activities. Working in this role, I have mastered the art of office management by developing effective tactics for tasks such as making copies, preparing mailers, and staffing the phone lines. I've learned to approach every task with the utmost attention to detail and to take the time to learn from mistakes and mishaps.
August 2021 - Present
King Library Student Assistant
I am the only student out of 50 to be trained at all four libraries on Miami University's campus. I have developed a diverse set of skills and knowledge in areas such as music, art, and architecture, as well as general library science. As part of my role, I utilize my technical skills by managing the integrated library system, Sierra, and gathering and processing intercampus and OhioLINK requests. In addition, I troubleshoot operational problems with printers, laptops, cameras, and other equipment to ensure seamless operation. One of my core responsibilities is to organize and distribute more than 50 different types of library materials.
